India-made Hyundai Creta teased in Philippines

Will make its debut at the 2017 Manila International Auto Show.

Hyundai Philippines has dropped a teaser of the India-made Hyundai Creta, suggesting that a launch is imminent. Reports suggest that the new Creta will make its local debut at the 2017 Manila International Auto Show that opens on 30 March.

Like most other markets, the Hyundai Creta for Philippines will be manufactured and exported from Hyundai India's plant in Chennai. Top-end models will come equipped with projector headlamps with LED positioning lamps, 17-inch dual tone alloy wheels, front and rear skid plates, engine start-stop button, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, 6 airbags, Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Static Bending Lights.

The engine lineup could include the 1.6-litre VTVT petrol and the 1.6-litre turbodiesel. The former produces 123 PS of power at 6,300 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 4,850 rpm, while the latter outputs 128 PS of maximum power at 4,000 rpm and 260 Nm of peak torque at 2,750 rpm. A 6-speed manual or automatic can be had in both variants.

In the Philippines, the Hyundai Creta will be the least expensive utility vehicle in Hyundai's portfolio, slotting below the Tucson. It will rival the Ford EcoSport, Nissan Juke and Chevrolet Trax.
