Will launch for sale on March 29.

Honda Thailand has dropped the first set of teasers of the 2017 Honda CR-V, one of which confirms a new feature never before offered in the crossover - third-row seating. The next-gen CR-V will launch on March 29 in the country.

Another interesting feature of the Thai-spec feature is the lack of a traditional gear selector for the CVT; instead it gets an Acura NSX-inspired selector with buttons for P, R, N and D. Honda Thailand has also confirmed that the CR-V will, for the first time, offer the option of diesel power from a 1.6L i-DTEC unit paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission, which produces 160 hp at 4,000 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm.

Otherwise, the new CR-V will share most of the features available in the U.S-spec model, which includes signature Honda LED headlights (Touring trim) with wing-shaped LED DRLs, Honda-first Active Shutter Grille to lower aerodynamic drag, new aluminum-forged alloy wheels, narrower A-pillars, Hands-Free Access Power Tailgate and plenty of chrome garnish.

The Thai-spec Honda CR-V is manufactured at Honda's Ayutthaya plant in Thailand, which serves as the production hub for ASEAN markets and India. India is reported to receive the new Honda CR-V later this year, and the company plans to localize the vehicle higher than before.
