Second-gen model makes European debut at the Swiss show.

The 2017 Jeep Compass has made its European debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The second generation Compass should go on sale in Europe and India later this year.

The 2017 Jeep Compass measures 4,410 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width and 1,640 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,630 mm. The second generation model rides on the Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X's Small-Wide 4X4 platform. It's positioned in the C-segment and competes with the Hyundai Tucson, Mazda CX-5, VW Tiguan and the likes.

The all-new Jeep Compass is available with 1.4-litre FIRE MultiAir 2 petrol, 2.0-litre Tigershark petrol, 2.4-litre Tigershark MultiAir 2 petrol, 1.6-litre MultiJet II diesel and 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel engines and 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, 6-speed dual-clutch automatic, 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and 9-speed automatic transmissions. Some models are front-wheel drive, while the others get the Jeep Active Drive full-time four-wheel drive system/Jeep Active Drive Low full-time 4x4 system with 20:1 crawl ratio.

The 2017 Jeep Compass is offered in four trim levels: Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk trim levels. Key features of the compact SUV include projector-beam headlamps with LED signature lights, 19-inch alloy wheels, LED signature tail lamps, power liftgate, dual-pane sunroof, 7.0-inch full-colour LED instrument cluster, Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and 9-speaker BeatsAudio Premium II audio system with a 12-channel amplifier and a subwoofer.

The Euro-spec second-gen Jeep Compass' production will take place in Toluca, Mexico. For the Indian market, the Jeep Compass will be locally manufactured at Tata-Fiat JV's plant in Ranjangaon.
