The Yamaha R15 v3.0 release date is set for mid-2017.

A spy shot from IwanBanaran reveals the Yamaha R15 v3.0 getting an all-digital instrumentation as against the mix of an analogue tachometer and digital speedometer in the current bike.

The 2017 edition of the R15 will not just get an upside down front forks but also all-digital instrumentation, which will give Yamaha the opportunity to market it as a sophisticated and advanced bike.

The Yamaha R15 v3 is expected to get a new powertrain displacing around 155 cc. The engine reportedly is also getting Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). Yamaha already has the useful VVA in the Yamaha Aerox 155 and Yamaha NMax 155, and the Yamaha R15 v3 top speed in effect will be higher than 150 km/h, with a sharper throttle response and on-demand torque.

As for the Yamaha R15 v3 specification, the power and torque output, which in the Yamaha R15 v2.0 stand at 17 PS and 15 Nm respectively, will hopefully see a significant boost to help the motorcycle fend off newer competition in the Honda CBR150R and Suzuki GSX-R150.

The motorcycle will be suspended over upside down forks up front and a monoshock with limited levels of adjustability. The digital instrumentation will include a lot of details and the layout of which will be interesting to look at.

Due to inclusion of new safety and performance hardware, the Yamaha R15 v3 price will be higher than the present version (INR 118,373, ex-showroom, Delhi), and is expected to hit Indian streets in mid-2017.
