Data shows that not a single KTM Duke 200 was sold in India in October.

The Austrian bike maker has not just removed the Duke 200 from its Indian website but has also reportedly stopped production of the bike, reports say.

KTM might introduce the 2017 Duke 200 before the new Duke 390 makes its way to the Indian market.

KTM has time and time again removed the Duke 200 from the Indian website but the bike continued to be available at dealerships. One explanation of shutting down production can be that they are waiting for dealer inventories to be cleared to introduce the 2017 models.

With the 2017 models announced at the EICMA this month, it is only a matter of time that KTM brings the updates to India. The 200 is the bread earner for the Indian operations, with sales figures averaging more than 2,400 units per month in the first half of this financial year.

The KTM Duke 200 was instrumental in testifying the credentials of the new Bajaj owned brand (Bajaj has a 48 percent stake in KTM). Succeeding models, along with the Duke 200, helped KTM reinvent itself in Europe.

The 2017 Duke 200 and Duke 250 bear the same styling as the 2017 Duke 390, but misses out on LED headlamps and TFT instrumentation screen, while ride-by-wire could also be unavailable.
