Hyundai Tucson launches in India today

HMIL will relaunch the Hyundai Tucson brand after a five-year gap.

Going by leaked brochure scans that surfaced a few days ago, the Hyundai Tucson, which launches today in India, will be available in two engines and three variants. The car has already reached some dealer yards.

The new Hyundai Tucson will come with a 2.0L diesel engine or a 2.0L dual VTVT petrol engine.

The Hyundai Tucson diesel will be powered by a 2.0-litre CRDi engine that develops 182 bhp @ 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm @ 1,750-2,750 rpm. The company claims a fuel efficiency of 18.42 km/l for the manual model and 16.38 km/l for the automatic model.

The Hyundai Tucson petrol will pack a 2.0-litre dual VTVT engine that will develop 153 bhp @ 6,200 rpm and 192 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. Its fuel economy claim is 13.03 km/l with the manual gearbox and 12.95 km/l with the automatic gearbox.

Both engines will come with 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The third generation Hyundai Tucson will be sold in three trims - 2WD MT, 2WD AT GL, and 2WD AT GLS. The petrol engine comes on the first two trims, while diesel customers will have all three variants to pick from.

At the tape, the Tucson is 4,475 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, and stands 1,660 mm tall including roof rails, which come standard. It has a wheelbase of 2,670 mm, and feature content includes dual-barrel LED headlamps. LED daytime running lamps (DRLs), 18-inch diamond-cut wheels, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, rear AC vents, 10-way power adjustable driver seat, keyless entry and go, powered tailgate, electric parking brake, Drive Mode Select, 8.0-inch touchscreen system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 3rd gen Hyundai Tucson will be sold in three trim levels - 2WD MT, 2WD AT GL, and 2WD AT GLS.

Safety features on the Tucson include ABS with EBD, side and curtain airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), vehicle stability management (VSM), hill-start assist control (HAC), downhill brake control (DBC), and brake assist.

The price of the new Hyundai Tucson is estimated to range between INR 16-20 lakhs (ex-showroom).
