Hyundai's new B-SUV taking shape in Europe, with its launch programed in early 2018.

Besides a globally appealing design, the new Hyundai B-SUV will be safer and technologically superior to the Hyundai Creta.

The Hyundai i20-based SUV will be a B-segment product rivaling the Peugeot 2008, Renault Captur, Nissan Juke, Fiat 500X, Toyota C-HR, Honda HR-V and the likes. Hyundai already has a B-segment SUV available in emerging markets - the Hyundai Creta - but it was not designed to meet the safety requirements of the developed world.

The new Hyundai B-SUV apparently sports a typical European design, as evident with the Citroen-style front fascia with the two-tier headlamp setup. Hyundai showcased its idea of this model with the Hyundai Intrado concept at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Besides a new design, the new B-SUV will excel in active and passive safety as well as in the infotainment and connectivity technologies it will offer.

The Hyundai i20-based SUV will likely be offered with 1.0- to 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines, when it hits Europe in early 2018. It was recently reported that Hyundai is planning four new SUVs for India.
