Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 coming to India next year - Report

Will be sold through KTM-Kawasaki dealerships.

The Husqvarna Vitpilen concept from EICMA 2014 was finally introduced in production form this week, at EICMA 2016. According to a report from Overdrive, the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 will be launched in India next year.

The Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 is built using the KTM Duke 390's framework, the one from the second generation model introduced at the same motorcycle show. It's powered by a 375 cc single-cylinder engine that offers a maximum power of 44 hp. The fuel tank has a capacity of 9.5 litres, which is lower compared even to the previous generation KTM Duke 390 (11 litres).

The Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 features 43 mm upside-down front forks with 142 mm travel and a rear monoshock with 150 mm travel - both from WP Suspension. 320 mm front disc brake and 230 mm rear disc brake - both with BYBRE (a Brembo brand) rotors, provide the stopping power. Bosch 9.11MB two channels ABS is standard. Other features currently known are, Metzeler M5 tyres, LED lights, digital instrument cluster, clip-on handlebars and single seat layout.

The Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, the first model of the company's new 'Real Street' range, will be built at Bajaj Auto's plant in Chakan, Maharashtra, and launch internationally in mid-2016. Its Indian launch will also happen next year, with retail through dealers currently dealing with KTM and Kawasaki motorcycles, says Overdrive.
