Japanese supermini now safer, but pricier.
In January, Honda Cars India made dual-front airbags standard in the Honda City, and now it’s turn of the Honda Jazz. The company has increased the hatchback’s safety quotient by making dual-front airbags standard.
Previously, dual-front airbags were fitted only in the V, SV and VX trim levels, but starting this month, the E and S trim levels have them. Of course, the increased safety isn’t a treat from the company; prices of the E and S trim levels have been increased by INR 12,000.
The Jazz E petrol and Jazz E diesel are priced at INR 5,81,200 (ex-showroom Delhi) and INR 7,11,750 (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively, while the Jazz S petrol and Jazz S diesel cost INR 6,44,800 (ex-showroom Delhi) and INR 7,80,350 (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively.
The Jazz is available with a 1.5-liter i-DTEC engine producing 100 PS/200 Nm and is mated only to a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol variant has a 1.2-liter i-VTEC unit producing 90 PS/110 Nm and is mated to a 5-speed manual with an optional CVT.
