Ducati plans to set up production facility in India - Report

Ducati Motor is currently scouting for 100 acres land to set up a manufacturing unit in India, reports Times of India. Ducati representatives have sat with officials of the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) to discuss the rate list and availability of land in Greater Noida.

It's unclear which products will enter production in India, although we reckon that a likely candidate is the Ducati Scrambler.

Ducati will join the likes of premium motorcycle manufacturers such as BMW Motorrad (in 2017), KTM, Aprilia, Benelli, Kawasaki to locally produce products in India. The mentioned manufacturers have set up partnerships with local brands like TVS, Bajaj and DSK Motowheels.

It's unclear which products will enter production in India, although we reckon a likely candidate is the Ducati Scrambler. Currently imported as a CBU, the Ducati Scrambler range in India starts with the Icon model, which is priced at INR 6.77 lakhs (ex-Showroom, New Delhi).

Ducati India's last product launch was the xDiavel, which is priced at INR 15.87 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

Ducati India is represented by five dealerships in Delhi, Mumbai, Gurgaon, Bengaluru and Pune, with more to follow in locations such as Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Cochin, Chandigarh, Goa and Jaipur. Other than the Scrambler, Ducati India's portfolio comprises of the Monster, Hypermotard, Hyperstrada, the Diavel, 899, 1299, 1299 S and the Panigale.
