The Dominar 400 has been confirmed for a mid-December launch.

The Bajaj Dominar 400’s production has commenced at the Chakan plant. With the motorcycle beginning its life as the Pulsar CS400 concept at the 2014 Auto Expo, it has lost some of the premium features, for instance the upside down front forks have been replaced with standard telescopic units.

However the dual instrumentation console, bearing a second display on the fuel tank, has been brought down from the concept model. A new video has come up on YouTube which shows the Bajaj Dominar 400 accelerating to above 80 km/h in the 2nd gear.

With the engine sourced from the KTM Duke 390, the Dominar 400 is expected to focus on usable power in the low- and mid-range. Enthusiasts are hoping that the bike strikes the right balance between city riding and highway cruising.

The Dominar 400 is Bajaj’s answer to Royal Enfield’s 50,000+ units sales volume/month. In fact, Rajiv Bajaj had earlier informed the media that he expects the new bike to sell 10,000 units per month.
