Autoblog has uploaded spyshots of a Ford F-150 test mule that packs a diesel engine, from the USA. This is evidenced by the green 'diesel only' fuel cap and a placard on the dashboard that reads "Diesel Fuel Only!".

Ford is working on a mid-cycle refresh for the popular Ford F-150 truck in 2018, which will introduce a diesel-powered option. It is reported to pack a 3.0 V6 turbo diesel engine from JLR, which explains the Ford-owned Range Rover Sport test vehicle beside the F-150. In the former, the V6 turbodiesel engine produces 254 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque.

Changes expected in the 2018 Ford F-150 could be limited to new headlights, taillamps and light sheet metal changes. The MY2017 Ford F-150 will continue being powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 rated at 370 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. However, it gets a new 10-speed automatic transmission co-developed with GM.
