Mahindra XUV AT, Mahindra TUV300 confirmed for South Africa - Report

Both models are hitting the market by October 2016.

Mahindra South Africa CEO Sajoy Gupta has confirmed the Mahindra XUV500 automatic and Mahindra TUV300 for South Africa in an interview with CAR magazine (South Africa).

The Mahindra XUV500 automatic will be offered with the 103 kW (138.07 hp) 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine in pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Mr. Gupta said that the Mahindra XUV500 automatic will be launched shortly while the Mahindra TUV300 will arrive in September or October as an offering between the Mahindra Scorpio and the Mahindra XUV. In India though, the Mahindra TUV300 sits below the Mahindra Scorpio.

The Mahindra XUV500 automatic is available with two engines in India: a 1.99-litre mHawk diesel engine producing 103 kW (138.07 hp) and 320 Nm of torque and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine producing 103 kW (138.07 hp) and 330 Nm of torque. In South Africa, only the 2.2-litre mHawk engine is offered; the transmission is an AISIN-sourced 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Mahindra TUV300 is powered by a 1.5-litre mHawk diesel engine and is available in two states of tune.

The Mahindra TUV300 measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,835 mm in width and 1,839 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,680 mm. It's powered by a 1.5-litre mHawk diesel engine that develops 82.44 hp in MT, 79.09 hp in AMT and 98.53 hp in the top-end mHawk100 variant. Transmission choices include 5-speed manual and 5-speed autoSHIFT automated manual transmissions.
