Indian Autos Blog understands from several dealers that the waiting period for the Tata Tiago extends well into 3 months depending on the color and trim chosen. The top-end variants are favored by buyers owing to their higher equipment list, while the base XE variant, which gets only AC and power steering, has a waiting period of 9 weeks.

Also, optional variants such as the XE (O) and the XM (O) which add the safety of dual front airbags are yet to be made available in several cities including Chennai. Dealers are instead asking buyers to choose the top-end XT variant to avail these safety features.

Tata has received over 22,000 bookings for the Tiago, and around 70 percent of these bookings are for the petrol variant which is powered by the all-new engine family. Introducing an all-aluminium architecture, the 1.2-liter three-cylinder Revotron engine on the Tiago develops 85 PS (83.80 hp) at 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm at 3,500 rpm.
