To rival the popular MPVs like the Toyota Innova Crysta and Renault Lodgy.

Motor Vikatan has acquired new spyshots of an all-new MPV from Mahindra testing in Chennai, offering a better look at the exterior. It is reported to launch in India as well in Mahindra's export markets in 2017, and will rival popular MPVs like the Toyota Innova Crysta and Maruti Ertiga.

The Mahindra MPV is reported to launch in India as well in Mahindra's export markets in 2017.

Reports suggest that the MPV is the first project developed by Mahindra’s North American Technical Centre (MNATC) in Troy, Michigan. Not much can be said about the exterior, apart from the characteristic Mahindra toothed grille and large headlamps. It appears to feature a design that will look unique in the Mahindra range.

The MPV could be based on a monocoque platform designed around a front-wheel drive architecture. Engine lineup could pack either Mahindra’s mHawk diesel engine from the Scorpio or an all new diesel engine co-developed with Ssangyong. Mahindra could also introduce a petrol variant as well, which could pack an all new 1.5L four cylinder engine that will be introduced soon.

Like its rivals, the MPV can be offered in 7-seat and 8-seat configurations, depending on the variant. Apart from private customers, the prospect of a Mahindra MPV can also lure buyers from the commercial taxi segment, one of Mahindra's popular segments in the country.
