The current Honda City made its debut in the Indian market towards end-2013, and went on sale in early-2014.

Codenamed 2GC, it's expected to launch in India in 2017. The prototype exported packs the 1.5L (1,497 cc) i-VTEC engine, while a diesel variant with the 1.5L i-DTEC will also be included in the lineup when launched. The petrol variant could upgrade the manual 5-speed gearbox to a 6-speed unit sourced from the Honda BR-V, while an EarthDreams CVT with steering mounted paddles will remain.

Otherwise, details on its exterior and interior are scarce. This is the first major facelift for Honda's top-selling product in India, so it could feature a more contemporary and bolder grille with more chrome embellishments, larger projector headlamps with LED DRLs and a sportier bumper, while the rear-end could get revised taillamp clusters.
