Aprilia SR 150 priced at INR 65,000, market launch in August

Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited (PVPL) today announced the price of the Aprilia SR 150 scooter, which made its Indian debut at the Auto Expo 2016. The scooter will go on sale next month with an introductory price of INR 65,000, ex-Showroom, Pune. Bookings for the Aprilia SR 150 will commence shortly and it will be available through Piaggio Group’s distributor network across the country, the company stated.

PVPL also confirmed that production of the SR 150 will take place at the Baramati plant in Maharashtra. The scooter was designed and engineered in Italy. Power for the Aprilia SR 150 will come from the Vespa 150's engine: a 154.4 cc air-cooled single-cylinder carbureted engine with three valves that develops 11.55 PS at 7,000 rpm and 11.5 Nm at 5,500 rpm. This engine is also manufactured in India and comes with a CVT gearbox.

Highlight features of the Aprilia SR 150 include dual-headlamp, a twin-pod instrument cluster, 14-inch black alloy wheels, a 220 mm front disc brake, performance tyres, and sporty body graphics. The scooter will be offered in two colors – white and black.

The Indian scooter market witnessed a growth of 20 percent in the first half of 2016 as compared to 2015.

According to PVPL, the scooter segment in India is one of the largest in the world, with nearly five million units sold in 2015 and a growth of 20 percent in the first half of 2016 compared to the same period last year.
