New Mercedes E-Class derivative confirmed by Daimler.

Daimler recently released its Q2 and H2 2016 results report, in which it revealed the new generation Mercedes E-Class based 'Mercedes E-Class All Terrain'. It's expected to be mainly targeted at European markets.

The Mercedes E-Class All Terrain will rival with the Audi A6 allroad quattro.

The Mercedes E-Class All Terrain is understood to be the rugged variant of the all-new Mercedes E-Class Estate, a potential rival of the Audi A6 allroad quattro. A set of speculative renderings from Motor1 reader Tobias Buttner show how the 2017 Mercedes E-Class AllTerrain may look like.

The Mercedes E-Class AllTerrain (final name TBA) is expected to differentiate itself from the Mercedes E-Class Estate with a tweaked upper grille, new lower grille, underbody protection, plastic cladding and distinctive bumpers. In other aspects, the major difference would be the increased ground clearance, and possibly a more capable and adaptive suspension setup.

The Mercedes E-Class AllTerrain, being a high-end variant of the Mercedes E-Class Estate, probably won't be offered with the 2.0-litre petrol or diesel engines. This would leave the car with the 333 hp 3.5-litre turbocharged V6 petrol and 258 hp 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 diesel engines. Sending power to all wheels, will be a standard 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission.
