2016 Hyundai Elantra spied testing yet again ahead of September launch

Next gen Elantra to come with two engine options.

Carblog has posted new spyshots of the 2016 Hyundai Elantra testing in Delhi. It's expected to launch in September, and will rival the likes of the Toyota Corolla, Skoda Octavia and VW Jetta.

The 2016 Hyundai Elantra and 2016 Hyundai Tucson are the major launches lined up by Hyundai India this year.

The black camouflage hides an evolutionary design influenced by Hyundai's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0. The test mule has been spotted featuring projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, large hexagonal grille with chrome inserts, 16-inch alloy rims, LED taillights, shark fin antenna and parking sensors.

Inside, the 2016 Elantra comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that could offer Android Auto and Apple Carplay support, satellite navigation, automatic climate control, cruise control, rain sensing wipers and start/stop button.

Engine options are expected to include a 2.0 MPi petrol and a 1.6 CRDi diesel.

Reports suggest that the India-spec Hyundai Elantra will offer an option between a 2.0-liter MPI four-cylinder petrol engine with 149 PS (146.90 hp)/183 Nm of torque and a 1.6-litre four-cylinder CRDi VGT diesel engine that produces 136 PS (134.09 hp) and 306 Nm of torque. Transmission options are reported to be a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes.
