Ford taking Fiesta to its seventh generation for prominence in compact class.

The current, sixth generation Ford Fiesta was originally introduced at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, and later in facelifted avatar at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Speculative renderings from Auto Facil show how the 2017 Ford Fiesta may look.

The 2017 Ford Fiesta may have a front-end inspired by that of the 2017 Ford Fusion (facelift).

The next-gen Ford Fiesta is currently under development in Europe, spyshots of a test mule wearing production body reaffirmed earlier this month. Media reports say that the next-gen Ford Fiesta will grow in dimensions from the current Fiesta which measures 3,968 mm in length, 1,709 mm in width and 1,468 mm in height. As depicted in the rendering, the B-segment hatchback is expected to undergo an evolutionary redesign for its seventh generation. The front-end could be inspired by that of the 2017 Ford Fusion (facelift) that premiered at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The hatchback should be followed by an estate and a sedan version in the later months. In India though, it's yet to be seen if Ford introduces the sedan version or not. While the hatchback version isn't sold in the current generation and may not be launched in the next generation either, the current sedan version was launched but wasn't a success and currently stands discontinued.

The 2017 Ford Fiesta will likely be offered with naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines with displacements ranging from 1.0-litre to 1.6-litre. For emerging markets though, Ford may offer one or more of the new Dragon engines, that will debut probably late this year or early next year starting with the facelifted EcoSport. Brazilian media is already reporting the Fiesta will get a 1.5-litre Dragon engine, but it remains to be seen if it's the current model or the next-gen model in which Ford employs the new heart.
