Will be launched in India next year.
The upcoming Skoda Kodiaq, set to debut at the Paris Motor Show in October, has been spied testing in production guise for the first time. The Skoda Kodiaq is the production version of the Skoda VisionS concept that was unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show in March. The concept version will be used also as a design reference for the Czech automaker’s future products.
The name for the Skoda VisionS concept’s production version was confirmed early last month. The company’s first three-row crossover will be based on the parent company Volkswagen Group’s MQB (Modularer Querbaukasten in German or Modular Transverse Matrix) platform. To get an idea of its dimensions, the VisionS concept measures 4.70 metres in length, 1.91 metres in width and 1.68 metres in height, and has a wheelbase of 2.97 metres. The Kodiaq is expected to be the Skoda equivalent to the Volkswagen Tiguan XL where the latter may not be sold.
The Skoda Kodiaq will come with TSI petrol and TDI diesel engines with displacements up to 2.0-litre. The VisionS concept is powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain and its production version may as well get it, at a later date.
In India, where the Kodiaq will be launched sometime next year, the engine options may include 1.8-litre TSI petrol and 2.0-litre TDI diesel with manual and automatic transmission choices.
