ET Auto reports that Honda Cars India have received 9,000 bookings for the Honda BR-V since its launch nearly a month ago on May 5. The BR-V now has a waiting period of 9 weeks.
In its first month of launch, Honda managed to sell 2,344 units, which is significantly lower than the Mobilio’s figures in its first month of sales, according to the report. Its lukewarm response in the market could be attributed to the costlier price tag, despite not being as feature-rich as its more established rivals like the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.
Some of the features in the top-end BR-V VX grade include projector headlights, LED light guides, diamond-finished 16-inch alloy wheels, skid plates, automatic climate control, keyless entry with push button start, Bluetooth-enabled music system, steering mounted audio controls, rear AC and faux-leather seats.
Honda’s newest crossover is available in both petrol and diesel avatars. The Honda BR-V’s 1.5-liter petrol unit makes 119 PS and 145 Nm of torque, and is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT with paddle-shifters. The diesel variant of the crossover is available only with a 6-speed manual transmission however, and its 1.5-liter diesel engine develops 100 PS and 200 Nm of torque.
