The all new Elantra is scheduled for launch later this year, and will be locally produced at HMIL's plant in Chennai.

The 2016 Hyundai Elantra will look largely identical to the model introduced in various international markets, featuring sleek HID headlights flanking a large hexagonal grille, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, shark fin antenna, parking sensors and 16 inch alloy rims in the top grade. The new Elantra measures 4,610 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, 1,450 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm.

Inside, the styling will follow Hyundai's latest design philosophy, as seen in the 2016 Hyundai Tucson or Sonata. It has a new 3-spoke steering wheel, center console, revised instrument cluster with a new multi-info display, a 7-or 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation and Android Auto in top-end grades, while lower grades make do with an LCD display and flanked by buttons.

Transmission options may include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic, while a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic could be introduced in the top-end diesel variant.
