189 hp VW Polo GTI spotted during pre-launch testing in Pune

The 3-door VW Polo GTI has been spotted testing on a Pune highway ahead of its launch that is expected to take place later this year. It is VW India's first performance-oriented model which will be imported into the country via the CBU route.

The VW Polo GTI is VW India's first performance-oriented model to launch later this year.

The Polo GTI made its Indian premiere at the Auto Expo 2016 in February. It packs a 1.8-litre TSI four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 189 hp & 250 Nm of torque, which is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. It is capable of reaching 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 236 km/h.

The exterior gets separate LED daytime running lights with automatic range adjustment, headlight washers, static cornering function for foglights, GTI specific bumpers, honeycomb front air intake, red GTI underline in the honeycomb grille, twin exhausts, and tinted taillight assemblies.

Inside, there is a sports leather-wrapped three-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel with ‘GTI’ logo, aluminium pedals, sports seats in ‘Jacara’ upholstery, etc.

The model showcased at the Auto Expo had sports leather-wrapped three-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel with ‘GTI’ logo, aluminium pedals, sports seats in ‘Jacara’ upholstery, ‘GTI’ style decorative inserts on the dashboard and centre console, contrast red stitching, stainless steel door sill protectors with ‘GTI’ logo and ‘Black’ gloss interior trim details and black rooflining.
