Volkswagen India has revealed over social media that it will announce the pricing of the VW Ameo on June 5, 2016. As part of the pre-launch marketing campaign, the company has put up a price prediction GIF image in which the price starts rolling at INR 5.00 lakhs. Given that its 5-door hatchback version - the VW Polo, starts at INR 5.54 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai), the VW Ameo could start possibly at INR 5.99 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai) at launch.
Like the VW Polo, the VW Ameo will also be offered in Trendline (base), Comfortline (mid-level) and Highline (top-end) trim levels. Noteworthy features include first-in-segment cruise control, rain-sensing wipers and remote & power (one-touch) operable windows (open & close), speed-sensitive electronic power steering, front centre armrest, rear AC vent, Climatronic automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment system with Mirrolink, reversing camera, reverse parking sensors and standard ABS and dual-front airbags.

The VW Ameo will be available with 1.2-litre MPI petrol and 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine options. Both engines will be coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, but the diesel unit will be available with the 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission as well. Production of the sub-4 metre sedan has commenced at the Chakan facility in Pune, and dealerships are accepting pre-orders for it now. Volkswagen is conducting a roadshow to promote the car.
