The current Vios was spotted testing in India, although reports point to the next gen model being launched for sale here.

Speaking to FE, N Raja, senior vice president, sales division of TKM said -

Our priority is to keep our customers with us. We have given feedback to our parent company. They have identified the gap between Etios and Corolla Altis, which is huge. They are working on bridging this gap.

He then added -

Our parent (Toyota Motor Corp, Japan) is working on a new sedan model. Normally, any model development and launch will take 3-4 years time.

Raja said that the car would ride on a global platform, and it would be used throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

It's already been reported that the next generation Toyota Vios is being developed with the Indian market in mind. Rumored to debut in the country in January 2018, there was a report stating that TKM had placed orders for components of the next generation Vios for testing, which reaffirms its introduction in India. The current gen Vios was introduced in 2012, and its mid-cycle update was unveiled at Auto China last month.
