European market launch scheduled to take place towards year end.

Ahead of its European launch, which is expected to take place towards the end of this year, the Toyota C-HR compact SUV was spied on the roads of Darmstadt, Germany. Snapped in a Silver shade, the Toyota logo has been covered up, and there are no variant badges, making it impossible to determine the engine it is using.

The Toyota C-HR will also be offered with a 2L engine for select markets.

Toyota will offer the C-HR with a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine, and the Prius-sourced hybrid powertrain paired exclusively to a CVT. The 1.2-liter turbo-petrol will come with options of a 6-speed manual or CVT, and 2WD and 4WD layouts. The hybrid powertrain uses a 1.8-liter petrol engine with electric assistance and should be good for 122 PS. For select markets, the C-HR will also offer a 2.0-liter petrol unit with a CVT.
