Mercedes GLC spotted at an Indian dealership
I’m the international news editor at IndianAutosBlog.com. I love everything that has a steering wheel!
Expected to launch next month.
The Mercedes GLC has started reaching dealerships in India, spy shots published by MotorOctane show. The Mercedes GLC, the successor the Mercedes GLK-Class, was shown at Auto Expo 2016 in January. The car, in the Indian specification, will be shown to the media later this month, and will be in the market weeks after.
The Mercedes GLC, as the name suggests, is the crossover equivalent of the Mercedes C-Class. Both are based on the MRA (Mercedes Rear-wheel drive Architecture) modular platform. The Audi Q5 rival, in Germany, measures 4,656 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width and 1,639 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,873 mm.
Internationally, the Mercedes GLC is available with petrol and diesel engines with displacements ranging from 2.0- to 3.0-litre in multiple outputs, as well as a petrol-electric plug-in hybrid powertrain. MotorOctane’s report says that two models will be offered in India: Mercedes GLC 300 4MATIC and Mercedes GLC 220d 4MATIC.
While local specifications may differ slightly, the U.S.-spec GLC 300 4MATIC’s 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine produces 241 hp and 273 lb.-ft. (370 Nm) of torque and the Euro-spec GLC 220d 4MATIC’s 2.1-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine produces 125 kW (170 PS/168 hp) and 400 Nm of torque. Both models are mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
