Maruti in the works of scaling up production.

According to Autocar India, the rising number of bookings has increased the waiting period of the Maruti Vitara Brezza to 9 months. Currently, they have received 70,000 bookings for Maruti's sub-4m SUV since launch, and have sold 5,563 units and 7,832 units in March and April respectively.

Maruti is currently working on scaling up production of the Vitara Brezza. They had initially planned to produce 80,000 units in the first year at its plant in Gurgaon, which was later revised to 100,000 units due to the strong demand during the first few weeks post launch (the Vitara Brezza received over 40,000 bookings).

Reports now suggest that they are planning to further increase the production to 120,000 units which would help lower the waiting periods. According to RS Kalsi, executive director (Marketing & Sales) at Maruti Suzuki India, the plan is expected to come into action in the second half of the year.

Maruti will also commence exporting the Maruti Vitara Brezza to Nepal by the end of this month, followed by Indonesia later this year. So an increase in production will allow Maruti to allocate more units to export markets whilst barely affecting the waiting period for new customers.
