Mahindra has launched the automatic transmission variants of the XUV500 in the Australian market with prices of AUD 31,900 (INR 15.58 lakhs) for the W8 AT FWD and AUD 34,900 (INR 17.05 lakhs) for the W8 AT AWD.
Until now, the XUV500 was available only with a manual transmission in the Australian market. According to a CarAdvice report, nine out of ten people walk away from the XUV500 when they find out it doesn’t come with an automatic transmission.
The Aisin-made 6-speed automatic transmission is paired to the 2.2-liter mHawk four-cylinder diesel engine which develops 140 bhp and 330 Nm of torque. The XUV500 AT claims a fuel efficiency of 13.51 km/l.
The XUV500 AT was launched in the Indian market back in November 2015. The carmaker said that it had invested INR 58 crores in the development of the XUV500 AT, and that the same gearbox is also used on the Ssangyong Tivoli compact SUV.
Features on the XUV500 AT include six airbags, ESC, Hill Hold, LED light guide, projector headlights, alloy wheels, a 7-inch touchscreen entertainment system, automatic wipers and headlights, tyre pressure monitoring, reverse camera and parking sensors, micro-hybrid technology and cruise control.
