Gets a new 6-speed MT for the petrol variants.

The Honda BR-V has gone on sale in the Indian market, with prices starting at INR 8.75 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi. The BR-V is the carmaker's answer to the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio and Maruti S-Cross.

The BR-V is based on the Honda Brio's platform but is structurally enhanced for better rigidity.

It is based on the same platform as the Honda Brio, though Honda claims the structural rigidity of the BR-V has been strengthened in comparison to the Mobilio. Also, Honda has introduced its newly-developed 6-speed manual gearbox on the BR-V petrol. A CVT with paddle shifters is also available with the petrol engine, which is the tried-and-tested 1.5-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder motor capable of 119 PS and 145 Nm of torque.

The BR-V is also offered with a 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel engine capable of 100 PS and 200 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. The diesel variant claims 21.9 km/l whereas the petrol variants return 15.4 km/l (MT) and 16 km/l (CVT).

All variants of the Honda BR-V are equipped with dual front airbags and projector headlights. ABS and EBD are standard on all diesel variants, whereas they are offered from the S variant on the petrol BR-V.
