Honda has revealed the technical specifications of the Honda BR-V, ahead of its market launch on May 5. Here's a brief technical comparison of both petrol and diesel variants with its key rivals.

The diesel variant of the Honda BR-V is powered by a 1.5-liter i-DTEC engine also sourced from the Honda City, which outputs 100 PS and 200 Nm of torque through a 6-speed manual gearbox. It does not have the most powerful diesel engine nor is there an automatic transmission option, but the BR-V diesel is the most fuel efficient SUV in its class.

Honda will bank on the BR-V's space and three-row seating option to attract prospective customers. It has the smallest fuel tank, which could affect the total number of kilometers one can do in a full tank of petrol/diesel.

The BR-V petrol variant is powered by a 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine, which produces 119 PS and 145 Nm of torque. It is paired to a 6-speed manual or a CVT that comes with steering-mounted paddle shifters, sending power to the front wheels. The fuel consumption is rated at 15.4 km/L and 16 km/L (ARAI certified) for the manual and CVT variants, respectively.

Like the diesel variant, the BR-V petrol is also the most fuel efficient utility vehicle in its segment, although not the most powerful. It's the only SUV in its segment to offer steering mounted paddle shifters in the CVT variant.
