Mercedes-Maybach E-Class spotted testing in China
It goes without saying that I’m a huge petrolhead and can apparently convert all my driving emotions into words you can read.
Reported to be extended by 20 centimeters.
New spyshots of the Mercedes E Class LWB for the Chinese market has surfaced online, featuring lesser camouflage than before. Carnewschina reports that the model in the front is the regular E Class LWB, while the white prototype is supposedly the Mercedes E-Class Maybach.
Mercedes has intentionally covered the C-pillar of the white prototype, which could be hiding a design similar to the S Class Maybach. Reports suggest that the E Class LWB will be extended by 14 cm, while the E-Class Maybach is further stretched by 6 cm.
The E-Class LWB will source the engine lineup from the regular model, which includes a 2.0-liter four pot petrol engine and a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine. Being a top-end offering, the E-Class Maybach is likely to be based on the E 400 4MATIC variant, which also packs a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine that throws out 333 hp and 480 Nm of torque.
The Mercedes E Class LWB could be exclusive to the Chinese market, where it will be manufactured and sold by the Beijing-Benz joint venture. The E-Class Maybach, however, will reportedly be manufactured in Germany, and could be exported to markets other than China, so as to open up the Mercedes-Maybach brand to a wider group.
