1.5L TDI gets 7-speed DSG.
The VW Ameo, VW India’s first made-for-India car, was revealed last week and was subsequently displayed at the Auto Expo 2016. However, the market launch of the Ameo will take place only towards the middle of the year, Indian Autos Blog comes to know.
Speaking to Indian Autos Blog at the world premiere of the Ameo, Mr. Michael Mayer, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, said – “The launch is for the second half of this year. However, we want it to be the early part of the second half, as soon as possible”.
The Ameo will be manufactured at the car maker’s Chakan plant in Pune. It will be offered with the 1.2-liter three-cylinder MPi petrol engine and the 1.5-liter TDi four-cylinder diesel engine, the latter getting the option of a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG.
All variants of the VW Ameo will sport ABS and dual front airbags as standard, VW India confirmed at the product unveil. In addition, the Ameo will get features like alloy wheels, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, rear AC, automatic climate control and a touchscreen MirrorLink entertainment system.
The VW Ameo will rival the likes of the Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest and the Ford Figo Aspire.
