Renault Kwid spotted testing in Brazil ahead of launch – Spied

Aravind

Aravind Jayachandran,

It goes without saying that I’m a huge petrolhead and can apparently convert all my driving emotions into words you can read.

Powered by a new 1.0L three cylinder engine.

Spyshots of the Renault Kwid testing in Brazil have surfaced online, courtesy of Autos Segredos reader Carlos Eduardo Bernardelli. A launch date has not been confirmed yet, but the Kwid will be exported as parts & components from India to Brazil from next month.

The South American-spec Renault Kwid will feature minimal changes compared to the model sold in India, as seen in patent images. It gets body coloured door handles, larger ORVMs, and lighter body cladding, while the ground clearance appears to be a little lower.

For the Brazilian market, the Kwid could be equipped with ABS as standard, so as to meet the minimum safety regulations. The car will pack a 1.0-litre SCe three-cylinder engine that will specially be tuned to run on petrol and ethanol. A 5-speed manual transmission will be standard, while an Easy-R automated manual transmission may be offered in higher grades.

The Renault Kwid 1.0L and Easy-R AMT variants made its world debut at the Auto Expo 2016 in the beginning of this month. The Kwid would be exported to Brazil as SKDs (Semi-knocked down Kits), where it will be assembled at their complex in Resende, Brazil.
