Team-BHP reports that the third shift would help reduce the waiting period of the car, while making room for the Kwid Automatic and Kwid 1.0L variants.

Team-BHP reports that Renault will start the third production shift at its Chennai plant to meet the high demand. The car's component suppliers have been asked to prepare for a ramp up from March this year. The production boost will help reduce waiting period, and generate capacity to produce the Renault Kwid 1.0 and the Renault Kwid Automatic variants which will be unveiled at the Auto Expo tomorrow.

Currently the Kwid has an 8 month waiting period, while prices were increased by up to INR 11,000 last month. The top-end RXT (O) variant now costs INR 3,64,130 (previously INR 3,53,131), ex-showroom, while the base variant which was launched at INR 2,56,968, is bumped to INR 2,59,968 (ex-showroom).
