Waiting period for Mahindra KUV100 rises to 3 months - IAB Report

Speaking to certain dealers in metropolitan cities, Indian Autos Blog learns that the waiting period for the Mahindra KUV100 stands at around 3 months, depending on the variant and color. Launched last month with prices starting at INR 4.42 lakhs, ex-Showroom, Pune, the KUV100 is averaging around 450-500 bookings each day, according to Pravin Shah, President and CEO, Mahindra (Automotive).

The Mahindra KUV100 is powered by 1.2L petrol and diesel engines from the mFalcon engine family.

A previous report stated that Mahindra will increase production of the KUV100 to around 8,500 units a month as it currently makes around 5,500 units of the front-wheel drive compact car currently. Apart from satisfying local demand, the company also plans on exporting the KUV100 to nearby markets (Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka) and those in South Africa. The Australian market will receive a larger SUV codenamed S105.

The KUV100 is available with Mahindra's latest mFalcon range of engines. The 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol (G80) develops 82 bhp and 115 Nm of torque, whereas the 1.2-liter D75 diesel outputs 77 bhp and 190 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and are good for 18.15 km/l (petrol) and 25.32 km/l (diesel).

The KUV100, Mahindra's second monocoque platform-based product, is poised to sell 80,000-90,000 units annually. Later in the lifecycle, Mahindra could equip the model with an automated manual transmission.
