May draw design cues from US-spec Chevrolet Colorado.
A heavily camouflaged Chevrolet Colorado High Country has been spotted testing in Thailand by Nueng Pathompong of MZ Crazy Cars. It was only last year the GM Thailand introduced the High Country specification on the pickup, and the test mule could be testing components of the Colorado family’s facelift. The 2016 Colorado has been testing in South America since last year, and is expected to be unveiled in the following months.
The update could borrow design cues from the U.S-spec Chevrolet Colorado, thus adopting an upright, meaner look that is in line with Chevrolet’s global design language. The dual grille will be retained, although the upper grille is expected to be thinner and slightly re-profiled for an edgier look. The rear-end could feature an updated tailgate design and new taillamps.
The new Colorado is expected to retain the 2.8-liter and 2.5-liter Duramax diesel engines that output 200 hp and 163 hp, respectively. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual or automatic, while a 4×4 system will continue being optional.
The Colorado launched in the Thai market over two years ago, while its rivals Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, Mazda BT-50, Mitsubishi Triton have either entered the next gen or were comprehensively updated last year.
