The Ameo has been exclusively designed and developed for India.

This is the first uncamouflaged picture of the VW Ameo compact sedan, which will have its world premiere on February 2, 2016, and at the Auto Expo 2016.

VW Ameo full revealed
The VW Ameo will be manufactured at the Chakan plant in Maharashtra.

As can be seen in the spyshot, the VW Ameo will sport a conventional bootlid, ruling out speculations that the model would feature a notchback styling. The Ameo in this spyshot also sports a 'TDI' badging on the bootlid, indicating that it is powered by the four-cylinder 1.5-liter TDI diesel engine used on the VW Polo and Vento. On the Polo hatch, this motor develops 90 PS and 230 Nm in its regular state and 105 PS and 250 Nm on the GT TDI variant. It remains to be seen which engine tune is offered on the Ameo.

Aside from this diesel motor, the VW Ameo will also get a 1.2-liter three-cylinder MPi petrol engine (good for 75 PS and 110 Nm of torque) and possibly even the 1.2-liter four-cylinder TSI petrol paired to a 7-speed DSG.

VW Ameo taillight teaser
The Ameo is based on the VW Polo's platform and borrows parts and engines from the hatchback.

Over to the sides, its clear to see that the Ameo borrows plenty of parts and components from the Polo and Vento including the 15-inch 'TOSA' alloy wheels. The presence of beige seats indicates that the interior of the Maruti Swift Dzire-rival will be similar to the VW Polo in terms of styling and equipment.
