Jaguar XE snapped on Indian roads ahead of Auto Expo launch - Spied

Prior to its reported launch at the Auto Expo 2016, the Jaguar XE was snapped on Indian roads by Autocar India reader, Mr. Ninad Kashikar. The XE in these spyshots appears to be a base variant as it lacks LED daytime running lights and xenon headlights.

The XE for India will be powered by 2.0-liter petrol and diesel engines.

The XE is likely to be offered to Indian buyers with a choice of a petrol and diesel engine. The petrol engine in question will be a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged unit, which is offered in states of 200 PS/320 Nm and 240 PS/340 Nm in markets abroad.

The 2.0-liter JLR-developed Ingenium diesel engine is available in power states of 163 PS/380 Nm and 180 PS/430 Nm for European markets. Both engines will be paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels.

The XE will rival the Mercedes C Class, Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series.

For the Indian market, the XE will be assembled at JLR's facility in Pune, Maharashtra from CKD kits. The Mercedes C Class-rival is based on the all-new aluminium-intensive iQ architecture and measures 4.6 meters, 1.85 meters and 1.4 meters in length, width and height respectively.

Expect the fully-loaded XE to offer bi-xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen InControl Touch infotainment system with integrated navigation, reverse camera, leather upholstery with Twin-needle stitching and at least 6 airbags.
