Update - TeamBHP, the source, has confirmed that the image seen below is that of a regular Linea with an Abarth badge.

Could be shown at the Auto Expo 2016.

Team BHP states that the image below, which is the first sign of the reported Fiat Linea Abarth, was snapped at Fiat's Ranjangaon factory recently. The 'Powered by Abarth' branding, which is also seen on the Avventura, indicates that FCA India could position the Linea as a performance sedan in its segment.

The 1.4-liter T-Jet engine is already offered on the Linea in a 114 PS tune.

The Linea is already available with a 1.4-liter T-Jet turbocharged petrol engine. In its current state, it develops 114 PS and 207 Nm of torque, however, in the Abarth tune, it is likely to output 140+ PS and 210+ Nm of torque.

The Abarth Linea will further increase the performance brand's presence in the country to four models: Abarth 595, Abarth Punto, Avventura Powered by Abarth and Abarth Linea. Like the latter three models, FCA India will manufacture the performance sedan at its Ranjangaon plant. Buyers can expect to shell out an additional INR 1 lakh for the Linea Powered by Abarth edition.

Inline with its earlier Abarth launches, expect the Linea Powered by Abarth to be offered only on the top-end Emotion trim. 16-inch alloy wheels, front and rear disc brakes, ABS, EBD, dual front airbags, automatic AC, a Bluetooth-enabled music system, steering mounted controls, cruise control and automatic headlights will be standard on this variant.

Expect Fiat to showcase the model at the forthcoming Auto Expo 2016.
