Bajaj Qute spotted in Trivandrum, Kerala - Spied

Capable of returning a mileage of 36 km/l.

The Bajaj Qute (previously known as RE60) was spotted testing in Trivandrum, Kerala, courtesy of IAB reader Prashoy C.L. The production-spec model was unveiled on September 25, 2015, although it hasn't gone on sale in India yet since the company is still awaiting approval from the Supreme Court for the quadricycle. In the meantime, Bajaj has introduced the Qute in Turkey.

Bajaj Auto is believed to be test-running the vehicle in Indian towns and metros to gauge the people carrier' performance in real world conditions.

Weighing 400 kg (gross weight), the Bajaj Qute is powered by a Euro 3 compliant 217 cc single-cylinder water-cooled DTSi engine with 4-valves and a closed loop fuel injection system. It outputs 13.5 PS at 5,500 rpm and 19.6 Nm at 4,000 rpm, and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

With a small engine and light weight, the quadricycle is capable of doing 36 km/l and CO2 emissions of 66 g/km, while the top speed is limited to 70 km/h. It will be available in petrol, CNG and LPG variants for both LHD and RHD markets.

The last mile public transport vehicle is the first Indian made quadricycle to comply with the stringent European Quadricycle norms and get certification of the European WVTA (Whole Vehicle Type Approval), from RDW Netherlands. During its unveil, Bajaj stated that the Qute would initially be exported to 16 markets in Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America.
