Gets a redesigned front end and new taillamps.

For 2016, Toyota is prepping a facelift for their veteran best-seller - the Toyota Corolla - which has been leaked online via patent images submitted to the European Union trademark and patent office. Note that both models seen in these patent images are already on sale in China, but as petrol-hybrid and HEV variants.

Both models get revised front ends and new taillamps.

The international-spec Toyota Corolla (offered in India as Corolla Altis) adopts a meaner front end, featuring sleeker headlamps, bolder chrome slat grille, round foglamps, and chrome garnish running across the lower bumper.

The U.S.-spec Toyota Corolla (placed at the left of the above image) also features new headlamps, and a bolder bumper design with a wide-open lower radiator grille. The only change to the side profile of both models is the rim design, while the rear-ends get updated taillamp clusters.

Technical details on the new Corolla are scarce, at this moment. The current model is powered by a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with VVT-i, which produces 138 hp and 173 Nm of torque. The Indian-spec Corolla also packs a four-cylinder 1.4-liter diesel engine with 88.4 PS and 205 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
