The Tata Hexa is expected to be unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo.

The Hexa was previewed at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show by the Tata Hexa Concept which is a repurposed Tata Aria. It debuted the 2.2-litre four-cylinder VariCOR 400 diesel engine which has been introduced in the market on a new top-end version of the Tata Safari Storme. The motor produces 156 PS at 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm at 1,750-2,500 rpm, which is a higher output than the VariCOR 320's by 6 PS and 80 Nm.

The engine is offered on the Safari with a new six-speed manual transmission and the familiar shift-on-the-fly all-wheel drive system. The same powertrain combination is expected to be offered on the Tata Hexa. In addition, a GM-sourced six-speed automatic transmission would also be provided as an option, said a report.
