India-bound Nissan X-Trail – Motorshow Focus

The new X-Trail made its debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The new Nissan X-Trail has been showcased at the 2015 Thai Motor Expo. The 7-seater SUV is reported to have its Indian launch at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.

The X-Trail features the automaker's current design philosophy and the car is based on Renault-Nissan’s Common Module Family (CMF) platform. It has dimensions of 4,640 mm, 1,820 mm and 1,720 mm in length, width and height respectively. The wheelbase is 2,705 mm while the boot space is rated at 550 litres with third row of seats folded down.

The interior has a dual-tone layout with the centre console finished in gloss black, which houses the 7-inch Nissan Connect infotainment system. Silver-finished accents can be seen on the AC vents, steering wheel and the transmission tunnel. The two-pod instrument cluster sits behind the leather-wrapped three spoke multi-function steering wheel.

Overseas, the new Nissan X-Trail comes with a long list of features such as projector headlamps with LED DRLs, electrically adjustable seats, Active Engine Brake, Active Traction Control and Active Ride Control, cruise control, dual-zone climate control system, Around View Monitor, four airbags, Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control.

In international markets, the X-Trail comes with a choice of two petrol engines. The first is a 2.0-litre unit producing 149.5 PS and 220 Nm of torque with the second one being a bigger 2.5-litre unit pumping out 186 PS and 234 Nm of peak torque. The smaller engine can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed Xtronic CVT gearbox while the latter can be had only with the CVT.
