Aluminium-intensive construction reduces weight by 190 kg.

The 2016 Jaguar XF was put on display at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show. The car made its international debut at the 2015 New York International Auto Show.

The luxury sedan is built on the aluminium-intensive iQ platform, 75% of the new XF is built from aluminium reducing the overall weight by 190 kg over its predecessor. Jaguar says that the chassis rigidity has improved by 28% as well, and though the new model is shorter in length, it has gained 51 mm in wheelbase giving more room to occupants.

The interior of the 2016 Jaguar XF has been improved with high-quality materials and better fit and finish overall. There is no shortage on features either as there is a 10.2-inch InControl Touch Pro infotainment system that runs on a quad-core processor mated to a Solid State Drive (SSD) offering "blazing performance". Other tech goodies are a big 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 17-speaker 828 Watt Meridian sound system.

The 2016 XF comes with three diesel and one petrol engine option. The 2.0-liter ‘Ingenium’ diesel engine comes in two outputs of 163 hp and 380 Nm on the base variant, while higher variants are fitted with the more powerful 180 hp and 430 Nm of torque. The most powerful diesel unit is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 diesel capable of 300 hp and 700 Nm.

The performance flagship however is the 3.0-liter supercharged petrol V6 borrowed from the F-Type sports car, this engine churns out 380 hp and 450 Nm of peak torque. All the above mentioned engines are paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission while the 2.0-liter ‘Ingenium’ units can also be married to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
