As seen in VW's latest concepts, the design of the next Golf will look sharp yet discrete.

It is expected to grow in size for better interior space differentiation from the VW Polo. As seen in VW's latest concepts, the design will look sharp yet discrete. Inside, the design could borrow equipment ideas from the VW Golf R Touch concept, which includes a large touchscreen infotainment display, touch-enabled HVAC controls and a Virtual Cockpit instrument display.

It will be based on a revised version of the MQB platform, and could see a further weight reduction thanks to increased use of aluminium.

The engine lineup for the standard model is likely to include a diverse range of options, which include the latest 1.0 TSI petrol motor compatible with the MQB platform. A plug-in hybrid (like the Golf GTE) and EV variants could also join other rumored models like a 300 hp VW Golf GTI and a range-topping 400 hp Golf RS.
