A redesigned front face with fresh bumpers and headlamp design, the company claims, will bolster the SUV's appearance. On the rear, a redesigned taillight adopts a sideways U-shape. In terms of mechanical upgrades, Subaru has altered the steering-gear ratio for improved steering response and has also optimized the suspension settings. On the inside, the door glass thickness has been increased and the sealings have been strengthened for lower NVH.

On the safety front, the stock safety package includes radar based detection of obstructions at the rear blind spots, adaptive driving beam, and steering responsive headlights. Side and curtain airbags have been made standard across variants.
