Rolls-Royce will debut the Dawn convertible ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 8. Before the debut however, they have released teaser images of the drop-top, that is expected to go on sale early next year.

Rolls-Royce says that every body panel will be new on the Dawn.

The Dawn is the convertible version of the Wraith and shares most components with it. The roof will be an electrically-retractable fabric roof and not an aluminium one. From the teaser image, we can see an elegant-looking analog clock on the wooden-finish dashboard, pillarless doors and a ‘Dawn’ engraved sill.

The car will be based on the Wraith Coupe, and goes on sale next year.

The Dawn is likely to get the same engine from the Wraith - a 6.6-liter, twin-turbo V12 generating 624 bhp and 800 Nm of peak torque output. In the Wraith, power is routed to the rear wheels through a ZF 8-speed transmission which enables it to reach 100 km/h from zero in 4.6 seconds. Expect the performance to drop a bit in the Dawn owing to the extra weight coming from the chassis modifications.

The Dawn will be the second convertible from Rolls-Royce, the first one being the Phantom Drophead convertible. However, it is likely to be priced at a more accessible point than its stablemate.
