Mercedes GLA-Class replacement coming by 2019.

The next generation Mercedes GLA will be coming in 2019. According to German website Autobild, it will be bigger and also spawn a coupe variant.

Mercedes GLA stance on the review
The next generation Mercede GLA could be based on the second generation MFA FWD platform.

The GLA crossover is a stylish and tough-looking vehicle, but one of its major drawbacks has been the lack of interior space, mainly headroom and legroom. This shortcoming is expected to be rectified when the new GLA reportedly makes its debut in 2019. A coupe version might also be offered with a sleek roofline that sharply slopes to the rear.

The 2019 Mercedes GLA will likely be based on the second generation MFA 2 platform, and will also entail changes to the rear suspension and adjustable damping control. The website also reports that the diesel range will be made more frugal and that their newly-developed 9G-TRONIC gearbox will replace the current 7G-DCT unit.

There are also plans of offering a plug-in hybrid variant with power figures around 109 bhp mark, while the GLA 45 AMG variant will see its power figures bumped up in excess of 400 bhp.

The GLA coupe, if made available, will follow in the footsteps of the Mercedes GLE Coupe and the upcoming Mercedes GLC coupe.
